One of Australia’s largest Virtual Power Plant operators is looking to hire an Installation Manager Solar & BESS to lead the safe, compliant and high-quality rollout of solar and battery systems across NSW. The role will require the progressive build out of a dedicated team to support the company’s growth. Where installations are not covered by in-house crews, the Installation Manager Solar & BESS will ensure qualified outsourced contractors are sourced, onboarded, and managed to the company’s standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for installation of solar and battery systems across NSW, ensure installations comply with DER, CEC, AS/NZS standards, and local DNSP requirements.
  • Perform occasional review of installations and quality inspections.
  • Troubleshoot escalated technical issues during installation and liaise with the installation team to resolve.
  • Lead and mentor installation team members.
  • Build out high-performing in-house installation teams to meet the company’s growth plans.
  • Source, onboard, and manage qualified outsourced contractors, ensuring they meet the company’s technical, safety, and customer service standards.
  • Ensure safe work practices and compliance with the company’s WHS policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with operations, logistics, and service teams to ensure all required equipment and materials are on site.
  • Ensure all teams provide professional communication with customers so they understand system operation at handover.
  • Ensure all teams complete installation records, compliance sign-offs, and CEC paperwork accurately.

Requirements

  • SAA-qualified solar installer with accreditation for stand-alone power systems.
  • Licensed electrician with current electrical licence.
  • Working at Heights Certificate.
  • Significant experience installing residential solar PV and battery systems.
  • Experience leading installation teams, managing apprentices, or running a small installation business.
  • Strong understanding of CEC, WHS, DNSP, and DER requirements.
  • Highly skilled and detail-focused tradesperson who leads by example on site.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Practical problem solver with excellent fault-finding ability.
  • Safety-first mindset, with commitment to compliance and quality.
  • Good communication skills with both team members and customers.
  • Reliable, organised, and motivated to grow with a high-growth renewable energy company.
  • Valid driver’s licence; ability to travel to project sites nationally, but mainly in NSW.
  • Australian citizen or permanent resident.
