Process Equipment Design Engineer

A Process Equipment Design Engineer is required to work in a team responsible for the balance of plant process equipment design for a cutting-edge electrolyser technology and associated infrastructure that will integrate renewable energy as the power supply. Once a commercial scale plant is developed, the Process Equipment Design Engineer will support construction management and commissioning.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the process engineering team (and engineering service providers) to ensure the mechanical process equipment meets client and business requirements for reliability, efficiency and cost.
  • Development of material and line specifications:
    • Process pump selection and optimisation
    • Pipework design, routing, and stress analysis
  • Support the mechanical engineering team with:
    • Ownership of the interface requirements between the process equipment and the electrolyser
    • Development of processes, procedures and tools related to integration of the electrolyser to the process equipment
    • Collaboration with electrolyser design engineers with system integration
    • Assist in electrolyser development through design review
  • Work with the other organization engineering disciplines through the design process to ensure all systems integrate efficiently.

 Requirements include:

  • Mechanical or Chemical Engineering Degree
  • Demonstrable direct and relatable experience in process equipment detailed design and/or process operations from petrochemical, chemical, oil refining or industrial gases.
  • Experience of multiple stages of the process lifecycle including concept design, detailed design, commissioning and operations hand-over.
  • Experience in using computer-aided design (Inventor preferred)
  • Enjoy working in a design environment where research and development is on-going and will have an input into the research and development for detailed process design.
  • Experience in working with Hydrogen, Oxygen or Caustic process equipment is desirable.
  • Process Safety and/or Functional safety, and DFMEA experience
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
