We are recruiting a Land Manager for a highly regarded renewable energy project development company that has recently had significant and high-profile investment from a company that will facilitate off-take for green hydrogen projects.

The Land Manager will be responsible for securing new development opportunities within the QLD portfolio by fostering and cultivating relationships with landowners within regional communities. Working with the engineers, they will assist with site identification and will commence early landowner engagement activities, lead negotiations and secure land (access, leases) enabling project progression.

 

Responsibilities

  • Initiation and development of renewable energy facilities on rural properties for new project development opportunities.
  • Assist the engineering team with project identification, undertaking property and area research of all key stakeholder(s).
  • Establish, build, and maintain strong regional relationships with landholders and key stakeholders (including legal advisors, local council, and government authorities, etc).
  • Develop, maintain, and adapt project and stakeholder specific negotiation strategies.
  • Develop negotiation strategies that capture opportunities, articulate drivers and mitigate threats.
  • Contribute to the development project strategies to ensure the business timelines and landholder interests are safeguarded.
  • Build, mentor, coach, and support the broader development team in line with company goals and values.
  • Support the community team with events, information sessions and engagement activities across the development portfolio.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to build direct and effective relationships with key parties to protect and improve company reputation.

 

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant area or relevant industry work experience.
  • Significant land access and agreement negotiation experience in renewables, energy, or other relevant industries.
  • Successful track record of land securement from site identification to financial close.
  • A willingness to mentor and coach in a team environment.
  • Excellent internal and external stakeholder engagement and management skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, diplomacy and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Extensive knowledge of rural communities, rural land practices, and the agricultural sector.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficient negotiator, including the ability to influence outcomes.
  • Proficiency in computing skills and the ability to efficiently utilise support systems.
  • Sound understanding of land valuation, land management and land tenure principles.
  • Ability to regularly travel to site/s.
  • Requirement to be flexible with working hours to accommodate landowner, community and other key party’s availability and travel requirements.
  • Australian driving license.
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
