A Wind Farm Approvals Manager is required for a highly regarded renewable energy project development company.

The Wind Farm Approvals Manager will be responsible for securing development approvals for the portfolio of the projects in Queensland and other states as needed. The role includes managing the full cycle of environment assessments and approvals for projects and includes referral under the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conversation (EPBC) Act. The role requires a thorough understanding of planning and environmental legislation and planning reform direction in QLD and federally.

Responsibilities:

  • The primary responsibility of the role is to secure development approvals at local, state and federal level, for renewable energy projects in QLD (currently a number of wind farm projects at early stages, but future scope may also include solar, BESS and hydrogen projects)
  • Oversee technical studies and the preparation of high-quality approvals documents (scoping reports, environmental impact statements, submissions reports)
  • Identify key development approval deliverables, risks, budgets and schedules, and develop and maintain a Regulatory Approvals Plan and other project governance documentation
  • Manage external and internal resources to deliver milestones in accordance with schedule and budget, proactively anticipate and resolve issues and risks.
  • Support Land and Community team to engage with local and regional stakeholders required for development approvals, such as securing easements over crown land.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, science, planning, environment or related discipline.
  • Significant experience, with proven track record of securing development approvals for renewable energy projects in QLD.
  • Outstanding written communication skills, with substantial experience preparing documents and reports for environmental assessments and approvals.
  • Project management experience, and in particular the ability to coordinate technical specialists and internal resources to deliver environmental assessments and approvals.
  • Proven experience working with regulatory authorities and other key government stakeholders to resolve complex issues and deliver complex projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to think strategically to resolve complex issues and deliver complex projects.
  • Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and persuade to achieve desired outcomes in a collaborative style.
  • High ethical standards consistent with safety, personnel and community values
  • Ability to travel regularly to site(s).
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
