The engineering team is expanding due to the introduction of ground-breaking new foundation technology with additional geotechnical engineering expertise now required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare foundation calculations, drawings, and documentation, including chartered sign-off when required.
  • Design foundation systems (mainly piles) from conceptual design to project closeout, working closely with the Senior Structural Engineer to produce a final design package and support project engineering in project development and execution.
  • Analyze geotechnical reports, corrosion data, and soil risks for tracker foundation systems.
  • Support the project development phase by reviewing site information, calculations, and cost estimates.
  • Review geotechnical reports and recommend appropriate design parameters.
  • Calculate skin friction, end bearing, and lateral resistance based on geotechnical data.
  • Determine characteristic surface movement due to soil swelling and shrinkage based on literature and geotechnical data.
  • Conduct site visits to supervise geotechnical investigations and pile load testing, including domestic and regional international travel.
  • Provide construction support by responding to RFIs and reviewing submittals
  • Support the development of products by developing a thorough understanding of the product portfolio.
  • Coordinate with structural and geotechnical engineers in Sydney and other regions to develop and maintain engineering procedures, specifications, templates, and design tools.
  • Coordinate, manage, schedule, and review third-party engineering work.

Requirements include:

  • Degree in Geotechnical, Structural or Civil Engineering with a Masters being highly regarded.
  • CPEng or working towards it is preferred.
  • Experience of geotechnical engineering design, particularly pile design.
  • Previous experience as a Piling Engineer would be highly regarded.
  • Proficiency in Finite Element Modelling (Risa), AutoCAD, L-Pile/All-Pile, Plaxis and other structural analysis software.
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering standards and local codes including but not limited to AS1170 and AS4100 with knowledge of U.S. Codes Including International Building Code (IBC), ASCE7-10, and America Institute of Steel Construction AISC) a plus.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and ability to travel internationally.
  • Demonstrated ability to work without close supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skill.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in team environment.
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residence.
