The new Australian operations of a large, listed company pursuing a new technology driven decarbonization strategy is focusing on investments in renewable energy assets and new energy technologies, trading and supply of energy as well as demand and portfolio management solutions.

The Australian business has an ambitious growth target with an active buy and build strategy, which includes development of projects in solar, battery and pumped hydro energy storage as well as the acquisition of existing renewable energy generation and storage assets. They are currently trading and have applied for an electricity retail license.

The CEO is looking to hire a Senior Project Development Manager to partner him in building that portfolio and in time, to build a project development team. This will include identifying and secure additional projects to create an attractive development pipeline.

This ‘hands on’ role has the primary responsibility for the coordination of all aspects of the project lifecycle through development and construction and will be immediately responsible for the development of a 200MW/400MWh battery project on land owned by the listed parent company adjacent to strong grid infrastructure.

 

Requirements

  • A degree in engineering, construction management, electrical, business or related field, with a Master’s being highly regarded.
  • Preferably a project management qualification.
  • Experience in project management and delivery from concept/design stage through to commercial operations, in the context of major energy generation and/or energy technology projects.
  • Demonstrated excellence in effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commercial ability and understanding of project financials.
  • Analysis capability of project-specific risks and opportunities and experience of developing a risk management plan.
  • Experienced in the preparation and drafting of technical inputs and requirements for project tender documents and contracts.
  • Experience in managing interface between project owner, contractors and advisors and pragmatic in resolving issues.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory framework pertaining to renewable energy projects as well as government support programs for development projects.
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residence.
