Principal Consultant – Carbon and Energy

A Principal Consultant opportunity exists for an energy efficiency / carbon accounting expert looking to join a passionate and agile team of professionals. They are an early-stage firm providing specialist expertise in energy efficiency, carbon accounting and emissions reduction for companies in the industrial, infrastructure, manufacturing, resources, energy and agricultural sectors.

The Principal Consultant will generate and lead advisory work in energy efficiency and/or carbon accounting, as well as managing Senior and Junior Consultants to deliver that work. In addition, they will identify project opportunities, prepare proposals for, and win new projects and build client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Working with the Managing Director and the wider team, develop a strategy for growth for the advisory line of business.
  • Provide leadership to the advisory team of Senior and Junior Consultants.
  • Identify and win new project opportunities to meet utilisation metrics and sales targets.
  • Lead and deliver end-to-end solutions to customers that deliver clear value.
  • Prepare and deliver professional presentations, data analysis, and written reports.
  • Build on your existing professional network and maintain a high-level of current and up-to-date industry knowledge.
  • Maintain appropriate industry qualifications and industry association memberships.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of EnergyLink Services’ overall service offering.
  • Work with the broader team to drive efficiencies and improve internal processes.
  • Manage customer relationships for targeted key customer accounts.
  • Mentor and support the professional development of Consultants.
  • Manage and track utilisation (for self and team).
  • Manage and track customer satisfaction with project delivery (for self and team).
  • Embody the company’s values of ‘empowering the environment’ and play your part in the decarbonisation of Australian industry.

Requirements

  • An engineering, finance, law, economics, science degree or other relevant qualifications.
  • Demonstrable consulting experience in the energy, sustainability and/or carbon industry including mentor or leadership roles.
  • Deep understanding of the carbon, energy and sustainability reporting landscape both in Australia and around the world.
  • The following accreditations would be looked upon favourably, but are not a requirement of the position:
    • Category 1 or Category 2 Registered Greenhouse and Energy Auditor (RGEA),
    • ALCAS Certified Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Practitioner,
    • An auditor accredited to the international standard ISO 14065:2013,
    • Registered consultant with Climate Active
    • Holding a CMVP certification
  • Experience of delivering advisory services in energy efficiency, GHG or Carbon accounting/reporting, SBTi, Net Zero Pathways for large or industrial businesses.
  • Excellent consulting skills, including the ability to identify, win and deliver work as well as the ability to build strong relationships with clients.
  • Strong analytical and data analysis skills.
  • A professional communicator both written and verbal, able to prepare very high-quality presentations and written reports as well as confidently deliver formal presentations.
  • Well-developed project, budget and time management skills.
  • Strong personal brand as an energy/carbon expert within the industry in Australia.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Australia and overseas for project delivery.
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
  • Must hold a valid Australian driver’s licence.
