Chief Executive Officer – Energy Policy Advocacy

This membership organisation plays an instrumental role in being the voice of capital in advancing the deployment of clean energy technologies by coordinating and delivering targeted advocacy and market engagement in the best interests of domestic and global institutional investors. They are looking to engage a new Chief Executive Officer on a three year contract term to continue the significant advocacy and policy influence they have achieved so far.

 

The Chief Executive Officer will be the lead public representative enhancing the organisation’s standing and profile, as well as leading the organisation to achieve the strategic objectives, maintain and enhance reputation and credibility of the organisation, diversify income streams and secure new members. A key responsibility is to grow their impact in advocacy and influence to the state and federal governments to enable investment growth in the clean energy industry.

 

 Requirements

  • Tertiary education in a relevant area such as business, economics, finance with a master’s level preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the energy transition environment, from technology, policy & regulation to investment.
  • Significant experience of executive leadership, and a disciplined leader who conveys a clear and consistent message and sense of team direction even in uncertain times.
  • A strong understanding of the “machinery of government” and how policy decisions are made both at a political and departmental level. Ideally the candidate will have worked within a relevant field of government at a political level or within the public service. A very high understanding and ability to influence key policy makers are critical, currently and in the future, on both sides of politics.
  • Well established current networks in Federal and State Governments with a key focus on energy, decarbonisation and treasury policy areas.
  • Existing relationships with other relevant industry organisations and investor groups, such as the CEC and IGCC would be preferred.
  • A sophisticated and impactful communicator with the ability to carry and enhance the brand.
  • A persuasive influencer to all levels of government and regulatory and policy organisations.
  • A leader that can enhance the culture to support the achievement of strategic goals, making it a great place to work.
  • Able and willing to travel extensively to Eastern State capital cities.
  • An Australian citizen or permanent resident.
