Transmission Policy Manager

A Transmission Policy Manager opportunity exists for an electricity infrastructure, project development and engineering company that is looking to become a major developer and operator of REZ transmission infrastructure. This role will pro-actively identify, analyse, and advocate for regulatory frameworks and policy positions that advances the company credentials as a market leading transmission service provider for renewable energy zones.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of energy policy and related commercial matters to support the company achieving its commercial objectives in the delivery of transmission infrastructure into Renewable Energy Zones in the NEM.
  • Be responsible for monitoring and managing the regulatory, economic and political environment, extracting key insights, and communicating them to key internal and external stakeholders including potentially contentious issues.
  • Provide policy insight, comprehensive briefing notes and raise potential contentious issues to advise the executive and CEO for their engagement with the NSW Government on policy to support a contestable transmission model.
  • Provide ongoing economic/commercial advice, analysis, evaluation and strategic advice around current and future market factors influencing the energy and wider utilities sector.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Economics, Commerce, or a discipline related to energy market policy and regulation.
  • Demonstrable direct and relatable experience in a transmission network service provider or similar.
  • Stakeholder relationships and demonstrated experience and knowledge working collaboratively with energy market and regulatory bodies in NSW and nationally.
  • Deep experience and knowledge of energy policy essential with a particular focus on the National Electricity Market and the associated regulatory bodies.
  • Familiarity with the National Electricity Law and Rules and the laws and regulations of the NSW Electricity Infrastructure Investment Act.
  • Knowledge and understanding of regulation, construction, maintenance, and operations of energy infrastructure, and the Australian utility and industrial marketplace.
  • Knowledge of ring fencing and establishing a regulated entity.
  • Direct experience in compiling regulatory and revenue determinations will be viewed favourably, as well as deep knowledge of the AER’s rate of return instrument.
  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residence.
