A Business Development Manager opportunity exists for an energy storage start-up. They have recently completed an accelerator program and received federal government grant funding, as well as having a number of investors on board. They aim to close Series A fund raising by the end of 2023. There is upfront equity available as well as possible further equity through variable reward.

They have developed a fly wheel based energy storage system that is complimentary or an alternative to Lithium Ion batteries, particular in the C&I solar market.

The Business Development Manager will pick up the relationship for a major client where they have just completed a demonstration project as well as manage a large pipeline of leads to frow revenue and margin.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a sales strategy to achieve the sales and margin targets.
  • Develop a lead management system to ensure timely follow up.
  • Establish and further develop the relationship with the major customer to maximise the project opportunities available.
  • Build and constantly develop a target customer database to generate high-quality sales leads from direct to customer approaches.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is essential with further business or commercial qualifications highly regarded.
  • A demonstrable track record of delivering sales growth, meeting and exceeding business targets.
  • Previous experience in a technical or engineering-based product sales role.
  • Knowledge of the energy industry or products is highly regarded but not essential.
  • Strong consultative sales capability and exceptional relationship management skills with customers who will vary from agribusiness to technical engineers.
  • A highly adaptable and flexible approach, able to thrive in a start-up environment.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Australia.
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
  • Must hold a valid Australian driver’s licence.
