A Project and Operations Manager opportunity exists for a vertically integrated provider of energy control solutions experiencing a strong period of growth.

The Project and Operations Manager will be responsible for leading projects in the design and delivery of new or upgraded control systems for energy industry rotating equipment and power management projects. They will ensure on time, on budget delivery whilst maintaining quality standards for individual projects.

The role will transition into a mainly operational management role to run the division while still having a minor project management role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project planning sessions, define project scope, goals, deliverables, create schedule and project timeline.
  • Prioritize projects and resources, assess complexity against the workload and capability of the team members to optimize execution of programs.
  • Manage, monitor, and control schedule, cost deliverables, risk management and scope to meet or exceed stakeholder and customer expectations.
  • Support and direct the team, typically of three Engineers.
  • Direct and influence cross-functional project teams to achieve project deliverables including contractual and business objectives while ensuring customer satisfaction and business objectives are met.
  • Champion the use and adaptation of the companies PLC (Product-Life-Cycle) process to execute projects on time, on schedule, on budget.
  • Coordinate with commercial team and directly with customers to ensure progress toward program objectives.
  • Help establish business group strategies that achieve the long-term plan of the business group.
  • Identify and champion continuous improvement in the product development processes.
  • Participate in and support new business development (proposals).
  • Operations Manager responsibilities will include leading the multi-disciplinary team of sales, project management and engineers.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Project Management or other relevant technical field.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or other project management qualification.
  • Green Belt certification preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills including the building of effective teams, an ability to manage conflict, the effective setting of priorities in the team and an ability to clearly define roles, responsibilities, and objectives.
  • Project management experience from an engineering environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to moderate and lead projects and drive technical decisions.
  • Experience leading projects for complex facilities in greenfield and brownfield situations
  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
