Associate – Transactions

An Associate opportunity exists in the transactions team of a highly regarded renewable energy project development company that has created this new transactions division to strengthen the financial skill base in the company. They are undergoing significant change following investment from a high-profile clean energy fund. The Director of Transactions is further expanding his team and is looking to hire an Associate to contribute to a team that oversees the major financial aspects of the company’s development assets.

The Associate will take primary responsibility for managing sophisticated financial models and articulating conclusions from these models through to key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain highly functional financial models for a variety of transactions in development and/or acquisition that the company may undertake. This can include M&A (projects, portfolios, and companies), PPAs, financing (project, debt, equity), as well as the sell down of equity.
  • Use prioritisation and communication methods to align financial modelling priorities with development managers and executives in the Development and Markets departments.
  • Assist in managing PPA opportunities across the development portfolio, including preparing pitch book presentations for PPA tenders and RFPs.
  • Assist the Transactions team to engage and communicate with the executive team and shareholders.
  • Assist in processes to secure debt for their development portfolio.
  • Communicate and upskill other people in the company about the work of the Transactions team to better equip them to prioritise their own work.

Requirements

  • Relevant Degree level qualification (Finance, Economics or similar).
  • Some professional experience, ideally in renewable energy financing, modelling / model audit or M&A
  • Desirable experience would include capital raising, renewable energy M&A, securing debt or concessional finance, interest rate hedging, or PPAs.
  • Advanced quantitative skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple opportunities across a portfolio of projects.
  • Good understanding of financial risk management techniques and application.
  • Good verbal/written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able to work with a diverse team and multiple remote counterparties.
  • Ability to work independently. Flexible, pro-active, reliable, and positive attitude.
  • High ethical standards.
  • Able to travel domestically.
  • Australian driving license.
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
